How to create an account or reset your password

Updated over a week ago

Signing into BuildBook for the first time or having issues logging into BuildBook? We'll go over how to create an account, invite someone to create an account or troubleshoot issues with your own account.

Creating a BuildBook account

As a new account owner

If you are a new user to BuildBook looking to set up your own company, you'll create an account by signing up here, which automatically sets your account up with a free 10-day trial.

Once you've created an account you can easily log in from your computer or mobile device at https://buildbook.co/login. We strongly recommend installing the mobile app to manage your projects on the go once you've created your account:

For all others wishing to join you in BuildBook, they'll need to either be invited to your BuildBook account as a Pro Team Member or to a Project as a Collaborator/Client.

From an invitation

If you were invited to BuildBook by another existing user then you will receive an email invitation. The email invitation will include a link that will direct you to a page to create your account.

If you receive an invitation and already have an account, you'll be taken to the regular login page.

⚠️ Note: If you receive an invitation to another user's company or project and will be creating a new account, do not install the mobile app until you've received the invitation and successfully created your account.

Resetting your Password

If you’re having trouble logging into your account, you can reset your password by clicking Forgot Password at https://buildbook.co/login.

From there, you’ll add your email address used to log into BuildBook to receive reset instructions. If a BuildBook account doesn’t exist, you’ll see the error message "Email not Found.”

Check your inbox for a "Reset password instructions" email from BuildBook:

Follow the instructions to change your password and you’re all set!

Troubleshooting

1. Not receiving a Password Reset Email

If you have not received your Password Reset email:

  • Allow up to 10 minutes for the email to appear in your inbox

  • Check your spam folder

  • Search for BuildBook in the Global Search portion of your email

  • Make sure BuildBook is in your contacts and a whitelisted email address

2. Can’t get into BuildBook account after resetting the password

After completing the Password Reset instructions for your BuildBook account you may still have trouble accessing your account. If that’s the case, here are a few reasons why this could occur:

  • Use of Password Manager - Password Managers are great and keep your information protected but if you reset your password for BuildBook you’ll need to update that information in your Password Manager. Without updating your Password Manager with the new Password you’ll likely be entering the old one. We suggest signing into BuildBook without the use of the Password Manager after you’ve just completed a password reset.

  • Password Spelling Mistakes - Make sure your password is spelled correctly. Many times the reason you can’t access your account is that the password you’re using might have an error in it. This is especially true for passwords that are computer-generated. Double-check that the password you’re using is correct.

  • Email Spelling Mistakes - Similarly, you’ve gone through the steps to reset your password and now it’s time to use it. The email that you’re using could be misspelled which would prevent you from signing in (for instance, if you typed @gmil.com instead of @gmail.com.)

3. Password token expired

If you're trying to reset your password but your password token expired, go to https://buildbook.co/forgot-password and request it again. Just make sure you click the link in the most recent email that you receive to finalize the reset. If the issue persists, try first clearing your browser cache and cookies here or attempt to reset the password in a different browser.
