To sync a BuildBook project to QuickBooks Online (QBO), the project must first exist in QBO because projects in BuildBook aren't automatically integrated between the two platforms.
If you're new to QBO Projects, this feature gives Pros a new way to manage job costing and profit/loss reports. More detailed QuickBooks Online help documentation can be found here.
Enable Projects in QBO
First, the Projects feature must be enabled in QuickBooks Online.
Click the gear icon in the top right of your QuickBooks Online account
Go to Account and Settings (/app/accountsettings)
Go to the Advanced tab on the left
Make sure "Projects" is turned on.
Create a New Project in QBO
Navigate to the Projects tab in the left menu of QBO
Click New Project in the top right.
Give the project a name (this does not have to match the project name in BuildBook).
Select or create the customer this project is for, then hit Save.
When you return to BuildBook, the Customer and Project will be available when connecting a Project to QuickBooks (either by turning on the QuickBooks Sync toggle when creating a new project or by adding a project to the QuickBooks Sync settings page). Make sure to select the Customer and Project you just created!
